I have been fascinated with film and special effects ever since I was a child. I remember watching “Jurassic Park” for the first time in the theatre with my father and thinking to my self that it has to be real. I would borrow my uncle’s video recorder and make home movies using action figures and other toys. I would even get help from my brothers.
Films can bring a fun story to life and share it with others. That ability drew me closer into learning about the technical portion of filming, the art of storytelling, and how to present that story to others. Going to Ringling College of Art & Design helped me understand all those aspects into filming which helped me when I first began filming weddings.
Whether it’s a promotional, training, or educational video, it’s all about the message the client wants to convey. It’s my job to be that bridge from their ideas and concepts and bring them into a way that is easy to understand and fun to watch. I like to be as creative with my process and bring it into each of my videos.
As I started to learn about editing, I soon found that my next level for me to venture on was learning about special effects using After Effects. That helped release my creativity even further as After Effects is a program that doesn’t have limits and is only limited to what your imagination limits you. I never went to a technical school for After Effects but only learned on my own along with tutorials and personal projects that I enjoy assigning myself to further my growth in the program.
